I was ten years old when I came to PCM. My mother died due to complications of Goiter and my father left us for another woman. My grandmother took care of us five small kids. I was the eldest and my youngest sibling was still feeding on a bottle. It was not an easy task for my grandmother to raise five kids without means of income so she had to send me and my two brothers to PCM while she took care of my two small sisters. God really works in mysterious ways and He found a way to reach us. My life was changed since I met our Lord Jesus Christ through the evangelical mission of PCM with the guidance of Lolo Fred and Lola Mar Dellota who became my inspiration to study hard. I surrendered my life to Christ and continue to trust Him ever since. In 2006, I graduated from college with a degree in Mechatronics Engineering. I am now currently working in Dubai, married and blessed with two kids.

Life isn’t always easy and isn’t always fine. Life can present challenges that can give us courage to fight the obstacles and bravely face the consequences.

My family is good, happy and contented. We survived the days that life has given. My father strived hard to work just to feed his family. He was an ice cream vendor, and spent his strength to work just to have enough salary for his family’s daily needs. My mother is a housewife who made our meals and prepared our other needs. I have three siblings and I am the third child and the only girl.

My parents had much love and care for us. I couldn’t ask for more from God for giving me this family. But life’s circumstances isn’t always good. My father died unexpectedly. He died not because he was sick but because of the planted grenade at his friend’s burial. It was a total heartbreak for us and especially for my mother who lost her husband, the pillar of our family. At a very young age, life taught us about hard living. Our mother strived harder everyday for us to survive, working twenty-four hours and that is the reason why she got very sick. Her body was always exhausted from working. Because of that, my older brother and I decided to work for our family. I experienced selling ice candy during hot summer days, walking along the streets of different barrios. The hot rays of the sun kissing my bare skin did not matter to me. I also sold rugs in jeepney terminals and sold dolls every morning and went to school in the afternoon but unfortunately, the money we earned was still not enough to sustain our daily living. This went on till a friend told my mother about The Philippine Children’s Mission (PCM) which adopts children and supplies their needs.

I was just nine years old when my mother decided to entrust me and my seven year old brother to PCM. It was hard to wake up every morning at the orphanage knowing that my family was not there with me. But because I wanted to pursue a degree in education and finish it, I needed to be strong. I had to take every challenge and win the battle for me and for my family who kept on believing in me.

Because of PCM, my life changed. It shaped my whole being specially my spiritual life. I knew and received Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamaschiach) as my savior with the help of God’s Glory Church and under the guidance of Pastor Nelson, Mommy Arlyn, Ate Elen and Tito Ronnie Dellota. And because God has a plan for me, He guided me and I was able to finish my Bachelor of Elementary Education degree in 2019. I have started to serve as a volunteer assistant teacher here in PCM for a year, a way to give back for all the help and support this institution has done for me and for my future.

Every child has a dream and many children dream to become a doctor, teacher, lawyer, or engineer. However, one of the major hindrances of many families is the lack of financial resources to support and sustain the dreams of their child or children, and my family is one of them. I thank God in the Philippine Children’s Mission (PCM) helped me and continues to help other out-of-school and abandoned children to pursue their dreams. Like me “na dating pangarap lang ay makapag-aral at makapagtapos, ngayon ay akin nang nakamit.” (“who once just dreamed to be able to study and graduate, is now a reality.”) When I started staying in PCM at a young age I felt so sad, lonely, confused, worried and had a troubling question at the back of my mind as to why my parents brought me in this institution that is an orphanage. I said in my mind, “My parents don’t love that is why I am here.” After two to three years of staying in PCM I realized my purpose in life, where I belong as I accepted Yeshua ha’Mashiah (Jesus Christ the Messiah) as my MASTER AND SAVIOR. I continue to know Him more deeply and I know that all the confusion in my mind will be replaced by His word. God has a great plan in my life and I have learned to trust God even when I don’t understand my situation and circumstances. I learned that the purpose of my struggles is to refine my character. I also learned household chores in PCM.

First, I want to thank God for all the blessings, wisdom, strength, and guidance, for His infinite love and His will in my life. Second, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to PCM and to its donors for giving me the opportunity to continue my studies in college, supporting me in all aspects– physically, materially, financially, emotionally and also spiritually. PCM was used as an instrument and channel of blessing to fulfill my dreams. Finally, to my family, churchmates, fellow friends and classmates, I thank them for sharing their experience and insights that inspired and motivated me to have confidence in my ability to accomplish things.

At 6 my mother decided to send me to my Lola because my two older brothers are also living in the care of her. Raising 3 grandchildren at a time wasn’t easy for her because she’s not working and earning money to feed us. Our living depended on how much money our uncles can give us because our mother wasn’t even sending her money regularly. I still remember how often our Lola would go to a close friend or acquaintance just to borrow money so that we can eat. It was really hard. Then my eldest brother was sent here in PCM at the age of 10, I guess. Every time my Lola would go home after visiting my Kuya Noel she would always say that it was good here because everything is provided and we don’t have to worry about studying because PCM is willing to help. Then she asked me if I wanted to come here also and I said yes without hesitation.

Then at the age of 10 I came here in PCM. Studying and pursuing your dream apart from your family is hard. Its not always rainbows and butterflies. There will come a time that you just want to go home and be with your family. But I had a dream. I want to finish my studies until I go to college so I can help my family and provide for them. I endured and here I am now. I finished my degree in Business Administration.

PCM helped me not only with finishing my studies and providing for my needs. PCM also introduced me to God, and I have a deep relationship with Him. I accepted Jesus Christ during my stay here in PCM with the help of God’s Glory Church. Because of PCM, my life changed. It shaped my whole being specially my spiritual life. And I will forever be thankful to our Almighty God for using PCM as an instrument to help me.
